SCOTT WEILAND, CHRIS CORNELL, JACOBY SHADDIX On New SANTANA Album
June 28, 2010The Pulse of Radio reports that STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland, SOUNDGARDEN vocalist Chris Cornell and Chris Daughtry are among the guest singers making appearances on the new collection of classic rock covers from Carlos Santana. According to Billboard.com, the yet-to-be-titled record is due out in September and also features contributions from PAPA ROACH singer Jacoby Shaddix, Rob Thomas, Joe Cocker and rapper Nas.
Weiland sings THE ROLLING STONES' "Can't You Hear Me Knocking", while Daughtry handles DEF LEPPARD's "Photograph" and Cornell takes on LED ZEPPELIN's "Whole Lotta Love". Shaddix offers his rendition of DEEP PURPLE's "Smoke On The Water" while Nas rhymes on AC/DC's "Back In Black".
Santana will preview some of the material on a tour with Steve Winwood that begins on June 30 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
It is not known whether any of the guests will show up on the tour, or what the first single will be.
